Best Tools to Increase Workplace Productivity

Want to become a more productive person? There are countless apps and software options to make your workplace more productive, but you don’t want to waste time searching for the perfect options. Try implementing some of these tips to create a smarter and more productive workplace.

Rule your Email

If you are like an average employee who checks their emails an amazing 36 times an hour, it’s no wonder email is one of the top time-wasters in a company. There are ways to take charge of your inbox once again.

SaneBox is an email management tool that decides which emails are important based on your past actions in your inbox. It automatically filters out unimportant email into a separate folder and summarizes it into one daily email so you don’t miss anything. SaneBox also has the option to unsubscribe from unnecessary emails and allows you to snooze emails until later.

Boomerang is another really handy tool to schedule emails or remind you to send an email at a specific time. Having a hard time following up or keeping team members and clients on task? Boomerang has a handy ‘boomerang’ option to send an email back to you if no one responds. We love this tool!

Track your Time

One of the best ways to be productive is to know what you spend your time on. For tracking your time, try Toggl or Yast. Both options are simple to use, but if you are looking for a simple, basic time tracking tool, Toggl is your best bet.

Smart Social Media

Smartphones, the Internet, social media and emails are among the 10 biggest workplace productivity killers. One way to stop these distractions is to use Freedom, which blocks social media sites for you.

If you spend too much time posting your social media content, consider using a social media management system like Hootsuite, which offers a central dashboard for managing all your social media accounts, or Buffer, which is an easy tool to share found articles across different social media platforms.

Project Management System

If you are trying to manage a team and keep everyone on task, consider using a Project Management System like Basecamp or Pro Work Flow. Asana is also a good choice to keep all your messages, tasks and ideas all in one spot. 1-3-5  is a cool option; you choose one big task, three medium tasks and five small tasks to complete for the day, then check them off when complete and add new tasks the next day.

Wunderlist is a simple, easy-to-use option to keep all your to-do’s in one spot.

Teux Deux is a simple to-do list option and has a mobile app so you can keep checking those to-do’s off your list, even on the road.

Get (and Stay) Organized

Evernote is one of the most recommended productivity apps because it lets you to keep track of everything you need and share with others.

Is your desk scattered with post-it notes? Trello is like having a bunch of organized, virtual post-it notes and lets you categorize those notes by client or project.  Trello can be used by teams, or individuals looking to store their notes, to-do lists and keep track of due dates.


QUICK TIP: Sick of forgetting passwords (then resetting them, getting an email, and choosing a new password, which you’ll forget again next time)? Try LastPass, which organizes and secures all your various passwords for you. If you use numerous accounts in one day, it can save you hours.
